Why be a TiE Member?
So why should I be a member of TiE Sydney, you ask. Here are just THREE good reasons!
- Networking: Connect with people who can help and want to help
- Mentoring: Get advice and support from proven entrepreneurs for free
- Learning: Hear from experts, learn from practical workshops and our resources
Don't forget - TiE members get to attend all monthly events free - that's at the swish Sydney Hilton in 2011, with drinks and canapes courtesy of TiE and our sponsors. You also get discounted entry to valuable workshops and the TiECON annual event!
1. I can connect with people who can help and want to help me with my business or venture.
'Networking' at a multitude of events with people you barely know can be a hit and miss affair. A TiE Sydney event brings together people with shared values and goals - we love entrepreneurship and want to support every other entrepreneur out there! No one will scorn your idea, however outlandish - they will try to help you sharpen your pitch and introduce you to others who may be able to help as well. To make this work, you must be prepared to give as well- whether advice, contacts or even a trial order to someone just starting out.
TiE events bring together everyone in the eco-system - entrepreneurs, investors, service providers and customers. You can connect with any of 13,000 members in 56 Chapters in 13 countries via the Tie Global System as well.
2. I can get advice and mentoring support from experienced entrepreneurs who are keen to see me succeed.

Whether you are starting out with a concept and a gleam in your eye or figuring out how to get from revenues of $1m to $10m, you can always use a proven entrepreneur as a sounding board or even mentor over a longer period to developing or testing your own thinking. The right mentor can not only help you avoid costly mistakes, they could accelerate your plans by helping you present your plans with credibility to investors and raise capital for growth. They can watch out for you with advice on how to negotiate terms with venture capitalists or angel investors.
TiE mentors are Charter Members who have joined only to give back to the entrepreneur community - they invest their time at no cost and only want to see you succeed. TiE also permits mentors to invest financially in mentees, under agreed guidelines.
3. I can learn from top-notch speakers, practical workshops and global resources.

When you are racing to build and work in your venture at the same time, it is important to take some time out to look outside at new developments, concepts and war stories that may help you. Making time to attend many events is just not realistic for most of us, so quality, relevance and insights you can readily apply are most important.
TiE runs monthly events that present experts on topics of relevance, workshops that engage participants with experienced facilitiators and current thinking. Your time is money, so it will not be wasted at TiE.
